Hurricane Simon Category 4 Near Manzanillo, Rachel Waves Hit Baja Norte

Tonight's report

¡Buenas noches, Los Cabos! Lobo here, live from the rock, and tonight's show is presented by East Cape Concierge. Big hurricane down the mainland coast tonight, and Simon is not forecast to affect Los Cabos.

Okay, let's talk tropics.

As of the three o'clock Central time advisory, Hurricane Simon is a Category four with max winds of one hundred thirty miles an hour. It's about one hundred five miles west-northwest of Manzanillo, roughly three hundred fifty miles southeast of us, moving north-northwest at six miles an hour.

Simon brushes the coast of west-central Mexico this evening, slides a little farther offshore Monday, then turns back toward the coast Wednesday. It should weaken some but stay a hurricane. There's a Hurricane Warning from Punta San Telmo to El Roblito and Las Islas Marías, and a Hurricane Watch north of El Roblito to Bahía Tempehuaya.

Our neighbors on the mainland, this one's for you.

Two to four more inches of rain, isolated eight inches, for parts of Colima, Jalisco, Nayarit and Sinaloa through early Thursday. Storm totals could hit thirty inches in spots in Michoacán, Colima and Jalisco. That means life-threatening flooding and mudslides. In the watch area, tropical storm conditions are possible by Tuesday night and hurricane conditions by Wednesday. Follow Protección Civil.

And Baja Norte, the remnants of Rachel are over the southwestern U.S., about nine hundred thirty-five miles from us, and the eight o'clock Mountain time advisory was the last one. But Rachel's waves are still hitting northern Baja California, with life-threatening surf, rip currents and coastal flooding for the next few days. Stay off the rocks, amigos.

Now, home sweet home. Mañana looks easy.

Monday is partly cloudy, high of eighty-seven, low of seventy-four. Light east-southeast wind around seven miles an hour, no rain in the forecast. And the water? Eighty-eight degrees. Basically a bathtub.

That's the tide report. Stay safe, look out for each other. Sal y sol, Cabo.
